COP27 president-designate meets UNFCCC’s bureau in Sharm El Sheikh

Foreign Minister and President-Designate of the 27th session of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) Sameh Shoukry on Friday met with members of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change’s (UNFCCC) bureau, upon his arrival in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El Sheikh.

The meeting tackled the summit’s agenda and its organizational matters, said Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid.

The spokesman added the UNFCCC bureau comprises a group of member states that are elected as vice-presidents representing different world’s geographical areas.

Those areas are Africa, Asia, the Pacific, Western and Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as Small Island States.

The bureau’s mission is to provide consultancy and give assistance to the summit’s president, as well as facilitating communication with different geographical groups.
