A police conscript died Wednesday in Ismailia after being shot 5 May amid a shootout started by a group of people who opened fire on police forces.
Security forces on the Cairo-Ismailia Road had seen a motorbike without a license plate in the middle of the road. While inspecting the motorbike, a group of unknown people shot at them, leading to a gunfight.
Al-Sayed Nassef Mohamed, who had been driving the police car, was shot in the head. The gunmen shot another conscript, Ahmed Mohamed Lotfy, in his left foot.
They were immediately transferred to a hospital, where Mohamed underwent surgery but later died.
The funeral is scheduled to be held in Ismailia Wednesday.
Prosecutors are investigating the case.
