Mohamed Sherine Fahmy, an investigation magistrate appointed by the Justice Minister, is hearing testimony of plaintiffs who have submitted complaints against former Prosecutor General Talaat Abdallah and 75 judges from the ‘Judges for Independence Movement,’ accusing them of bias towards the Muslim Brotherhood and ousted President Mohamed Morsy. They also said some of the judges joined the Rabaa al-Adaweya sit-in, which is considered fraying into politics, a practice judges are prohibited from by law.
The plaintiffs demand that those judges be referred to disciplinary and criminal courts for having violated their oath to impartiality. They said that these judges are also accusing the armed forces of having betrayed the president's legitimacy.
