The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) predicts that low and medium clouds on Monday will continue to increase on the northern coasts and areas of northern Lower Egypt and the Gulf of Suez, possibly accompanied by scattered rainfall in some areas.
Temperatures will be cold during the day in Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt and the northern coasts, moderate in northern Upper Egypt, and warm in South Sinai and southern Upper Egypt.
The weather will become very cold at night and in the early morning over most of the country.
The EMA advised citizens to wear heavy winter clothes to avoid the extreme cold, and to drink plenty of warm fluids to keep the body warm.
It also urged caution while moving around, especially in the late hours of the night and early morning. The EMA recommended people to stay at home during the late hours of the night and not to be in open areas.
Light rain is expected in scattered areas and intermittent periods in the southern part of Lower Egypt, with light to moderate rain on the northern coasts and the northern parts of Lower Egypt.
Expected temperatures on Monday:
- Cairo and Alexandria: 17C
- Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh and Luxor: 21C
- Aswan: 22C
