Cold, rainy weather expected for Friday, Cairo 19C

Meteorologists expect cold weather on Friday across Egypt during daylight hours, while mild in southern Upper Egypt, growing cold by night in all parts of the country.

Temperatures predicted for the following cities are 18C in Alexandria, 19C in Cairo, 20C in Qena, 21C in Luxor, 22C in Aswan, 24C in Hurghada and Sharm el-Shaikh.

Mist will affect visibility across the country’s northern parts and as far south as northern Upper Egypt.

Low and medium-level clouds are expected to increase in most parts of the country, accompanied by rainfall on the northern coasts, parts of Lower Egypt, Sinai and possibly Cairo. Thunderstorms and heavy downpours are expected at times on the northern coasts.

Winds are expected to be southwesterly and moderate, being active in the northern parts of the country, Lower Egypt and Cairo. Winds could disrupt maritime navigation in the Mediterranean and Red seas.

Waves in the Mediterranean Sea will be rough and range between 3 to 3.5 meters in height, with northwesterly surface winds.

Waves in the Red Sea will be moderate to rough and range between 2 to 2.5 meters in height, with northwesterly surface winds.

Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) head Ahmed Abd al-Aal warned on Monday against a cold wave that started Tuesday and will continue until Friday, with rains on Thursday and Friday.
