Clinical tests for the Egyptian COVI-VAX vaccine have six months ahead, Professor of Virology at the National Research Center, Mohamed Ahmed Ali, said.
Ali added, during his meeting with journalist Hamdy Rizk during the “Nazra” program broadcast on Sada al-Balad channel, that the the vaccine has been registered with the World Health Organization after conducting animal tests for a year and a half.
The clinical tests will be conducted in Egypt over three stages, he said, pointing out that the vaccine proved effective during the initial tests.
COVI-VAX proved to be 100 percent safe without any side effects, he added.
COVI-VAX a national production and can be changed fast without the need to wait in the event any problem arises from it, he mentioned.
The name of the vaccine has two syllables, “COVI”, which is taken from “COVID-19” and “VAX” is taken from “vaccine”.
