Five Zagazig University employees were injured in clashes between Muslim Brotherhood-linked students and university staff on Tuesday.
This came after students broke into the main administrative building of the university on Tuesday morning, according to security sources, smashing cars and vandalising the building's exterior.
Students also threw Molotov cocktails at office buildings, according to sources.
Administrative employees then clashed with them in attempt to get them out of the building.
Birdshots were fired by students, injuring five employees.
Security forces arrested six purportedly Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated students and referred them to public prosecutors. Security presence in the area has intensified in anticipation of more protests.
