A group of men wielding swords and white weapons attacked protesters on Friday night in Alexandria's Sidi Gaber district.
Security forces arrived to attempt to end clashes, and arrests were reported.
Earlier in the day, the protesters left the area around Al-Qaed Ibrahim Mosque and headed to Sidi Gaber after Friday prayers. The protesters demonstrated against President Mohamed Morsy's constitutional declaration, through which he claimed sweeping powers, including immunizing the Constituent Assembly from dissolution. The body just voted on a constitutional draft to which many in the country are objecting.
Meanwhile, a pro-Morsy rally also took from Sidi Gaber and left the district shortly after to avoid confrontations with the opponents' protest.
The Sidi Gaber neighborhood witnessed several attacks throughout last year during different protests.
