Fatma Fouad, head of the Sales Tax Authority workers syndicate, said employees had been urged not to participate in a protest scheduled for August 10 against the Civil Service Act, adding that 27 other syndicates have expressed solidarity with them.
“The law reduces salaries and gives managers absolute powers in evaluating the performance of the workers,” she said, expecting up to 4,000 people to take part in the protest.
In a related context, Planning Minister Ashraf al-Araby is holding a press conference on Saturday to clarify the provisions of the new law.
