Thousands of workers from Egypt's civil aviation sector are preparing for mass demonstrations on Monday, when they plan to demand the removal of military leaders from the sector.
“We met early Thursday with Egypt's air force chief, Reda Hafez, military police chief, Hamdy Badin, and civil aviation leadership," said an employee at Cairo International Airport, who asked not to be named.
"We agreed to disperse our sit-in and give them a deadline till Monday to fulfill our demands of removing all military leadership, especially Major General Mohamed Fathy Fathallah, the head of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation," said the employee.
The employee said they will stage massive protests on Monday and suspend work in case their demands are not met.
