Citing coronavirus concern, EgyptAir suspends flights to Kuwait

EgyptAir has suspended its daily flights to Kuwait starting from March 7 until further notice over coronavirus concerns.

Referring to a similar decision by Kuwaiti authorities to suspend flights to several countries for a week, Egypt included, EgyptAir announced in a statement that it would stop its flights and apologized to its customer base for the decision.

The statement directed customers wishing to review and amend reservations to visit the company’s offices, their tourist agent or the official EgyptAir website.

On Friday Kuwait announced it would suspend flights to Egypt, the Philippines, Syria, Lebanon, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India.

This suspension will last a week as Kuwait prepares the necessary equipment to conduct checkups on arrivals coming into the country, as part of efforts to curb the outbreak of coronavirus in Kuwait, the Kuwaiti newspaper “al-Rai” reported.

The General Administration of Civil Aviation in Kuwait suspended all incoming and outgoing flights to the seven countries starting March 7.
