The Opera House, headed by Magdy Saber, prepared during December a rich and varied artistic program to celebrate Christmas on its theaters in Cairo and in Alexandria.
Saber said that the many opera venues have been decorated showcasing a festive atmosphere for the New Year’s occasion.
The December program includes a variety of arts, including the masterpiece of the Russian author Tchaikovsky’s ballet “The Nutcracker”.
This will be performed for four nights by the Cairo Opera Ballet Company under the supervision of its artistic director Armenia Kamel and directed by Abdel Moneim Kamel, accompanied by the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, led by Maestro Nader Abbasy.
The show is scheduled at 8:00 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, December 27, 28, 29, and 30 on the Grand Theatre.
There are three other concerts which will be held by the Cairo Opera Troupe under the supervision of its artistic director, Iman Mostafa, accompanied by the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, led by Maestro Mohamed Saad Pasha, a Cappella Choir conducted by Maya Givineria, and the Cairo Opera Ballet Troupe, under the supervision of its artistic director, Armenia Kamel.
It is scheduled on Wednesday and Thursday at 8 pm.
The Cairo Symphony Orchestra, led by Maestro Ahmed al-Saidy, will present a concert at 8 pm, on Saturday 24, in addition to a celebration led by Maestro Giovanni Pompeo, which will be held at night on December 31 at the Grand Theater, welcoming the New Year’s.
There will be enforces on the evening of January 1 at the Sayed Darwish Theater, Alexandria.
The Small Theater will host two concerts, the first for the mezzo-soprano Gala al-Hadidi at 8 pm on Friday, December 16, and the second for trumpet player Mohamed Helmy, at 8 pm on Sunday, December 25.
Al-Gomhoureya Theater will also see a concert by soprano Nevine Allouba, at 8 pm, on Friday, December 23.
