Child killed, three people injured while demolishing unlicensed building in Maadi

A child was killed and three people were injured while demolishing an unlicensed building behind the Supreme Constitutional Court in Maadi.
 
Maj. Gen. Mamdouh Abdul Qadir, director of Emergency Response in Cairo, received a communication of the incident and rescue workers moved in with the help of three cars. The injured were transported to the hospital. 
 
Scuffles broke out between security and angry residents at the scene.
 
The government has been trying to address the issue of unlicensed buildings and building extensions in Cairo, which can sometimes lead to collapses. The most notable recent tragedy was the collapse of an unlicensed apartment building in Alexandria, which killed 28 people.
