An accident took place on Wednesday on the ring road as a trailer truck hit 10 other vehicles, due to high speed, leaving a child killed and 18 others injured.
Preliminary investigations showed that eight of the wounded were in critical condition, while 10 others left hospital after receiving the first aid.
The road was closed for almost an hour and traffic was diverted.
Government studies have revealed that the number of car accidents in Egypt reached 15,578 in 2013, up 0.4 percent from a year earlier, which claimed the lives of 6,716 people and injured 22,411.
Traffic accidents are usually blamed on human error or reckless driving.
