The Chamber of Food Industries, which is affiliated with the Federation of Egyptian industries, predicted meat prices will soon drop 15 to 20 percent.
Hatem Nouweir, a board member of the chamber, anticipated prices would decrease because of farmers’ desires to expand their businesses.
Nouweir also said the decline in tourism has negatively affected meat consumption, leaving a plentiful supply for local consumption.
In the same context, Mohamed al-Iraqi, member of the buffalo breeders' department, called for support for farmers to breed more cattle.
