The head of the Federation of the Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, Ahmed al-Wakil, said that he would inform President Mohamed Morsy of his reservations about the current nominees for foreign trade and industry minister.
Wakil told Al-Masry Al-Youm Tuesday that the FECC will send a memo to Morsy and Prime Minister Hesham Qandil regarding the nominees being the heads of national banks.
The FECC is the largest organization representing the private and public enterprise sector and includes 5 million members.
Wakil said that in spite of the FECC’s respect for bank leaders, the Foreign Trade and Industry Ministry is one of the most important right now, and the minister must be able to deal with the banking and commercial sectors, as well as inflation, price adjustments and growth. He added that the new minister must be able to implement comprehensive economic development projects.
