CBE exemptions on fees expire by the end of December

Thee Central Bank of Egypt’s (CBE) initiative cancelling fees on withdrawal and inquiry via ATM machines for non-customers will expire by the end of December.

Unless the CBE extends its initiative the fees will be imposed back again on bank customers at the beginning of January 2022, as they were before the initiative was announced in June 2020 due to the spread of the coronavirus.

The value of inquiry and withdrawal fees via ATM machines varies from one bank to another, according to the internal regulations of each institution.

These are values of the inquiry fees and withdrawals from different banks through ATMs:

1- The National Bank of Egypt charges a fee of LE 1.5 each time for inquiry, and charges five LE in case of withdrawal.

2- Housing and Development Bank makes no charges on balance inquiry, and charges five LE in case of withdrawal.

3- Nasser Social Bank charges a fee of one LE each time for balance inquiry, and charges six LE in case of withdrawal.

4- Bank of Alexandria charges a fee of three LE each time for balance inquiry, and charges LE10 in case of withdrawal.

5- The United Bank charges a fee of five LE each time for balance inquiry, and charges six LE in case of withdrawal.

The Central Bank of Egypt has set a maximum limit for daily withdrawals or deposits from ATMs, obligating the customer not to exceed it, which is LE 20,000 per day.
