One person was killed and eight others were injured on Friday in separate rollover accidents involving two private cars on the eastern desert road in Beni Suef governorate.
Major General Zakaria Saleh, assistant minister of interior and security director of Beni Suef, received notification that a car was overturned on the eastern desert road at Snour tunnel, injuring five people.
Five ambulances were dispatched to transfer the injured to Beni Suef Specialized Hospital.
Injuries suffered by those involved in the accident included post-concussion syndrome, bruising, and possible broken ribs.
In the second accident, one person was killed and three others were injured when a private vehicle flipped over on the eastern desert road before Al-Sohaji Cafeteria. Those injured in the accident were also taken to Beni Suef Specialized Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) has reported a decrease in the rates of car accidents in Egypt, a result of improved roads across the country.
Accidents in 2018 left 3,087 people dead, 11,803 injured and 13,441 vehicles damaged, according to the CAPMAS report.
Human error and negligence are the primary causes of car accidents in the country, accounting for 76.8 percent of total accidents in 2018, with vehicle issues accounting for 15.7 percent and inclement weather and other environmental factors accounting for 2.7 percent.
