CAPMAS reports 36.5% increase in Egypt’s cotton exports during 2023

The annual report of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on cotton for the 2022/2023 agricultural season revealed an increase in Egypt’s cotton exports by 36.5 percent.

The report indicated that the total quantity exported amounted to 1.5 million metric quintals of cotton from the beginning of the season until the end (September/August) in 2023, compared to 1.1 million metric quintals (September/August) in 2022.

The report said that India imports Egyptian cotton the most, with the quantity exported to it amounting to 715,000 metric quintals, representing 48.9 percent of the total quantity exported in the aforementioned period.

The total consumer quantity of local cotton reached 54300 thousand metric quintals from the beginning of the season until the end of 2023, compared to 148,800 metric quintals in 2022.
