CAPMAS: Number of tourists decline by 21.9 percent in April

Central Agency for Public Mobilization and  Statistics (CAPMAS) has indicated a decline in the number of inbound tourists in April by 21.9 percent reaching 860,000 tourists compared to 1.1 million tourists in the same month in 2013.

In its monthly bulletin for April’s statistics of tourism, CAPMAS said highest number of tourism came from Eastern Europe, followed by Western Europe, then the Middle East.

The number of nights spent by tourists declined by 31.2 percent, reaching 7.6 million nights in 2-14 April, compared to 11.1 million nights in April 2013. Number of nights spent by tourists coming from Eastern Europe reached 43.3 percent, followed by Western Europe with 36.6 percent, then the Middle East with 13.8 percent during the same period.

The number of tourists coming from Arab countries decreased by 31.6 percent, reaching 124,200 tourists in April 2014, compared to 181,700 tourists in April 2013.

The number of nights spent by Arab tourists fell by 35.6 percent, reaching 1.2 million nights in April 2014, compared to 1.9 million nights in April 2013.

The average number of nights of each tourist reached 9.5 nights in April 2013, compared to 10.6 nights in April 2014.
