CAPMAS announces 22.3% increase in bank deposits during 2020/2021

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics announced that bank deposit balances in 2020/2021 were LE5,731.5 billion, an increase of 22.3 percent compared to 2019/2020.

This came in the annual bulletin on bank deposit and credit statistics issued by CAPMAS on Sunday, which dealt with the developments of deposits and bank credit during the year 2020/2021 compared to the year 2019/2020.

The agency said that the deposits of the family sector and the private business sector achieved the highest percentages of the total value of bank deposits.

The bank deposit balances of the family sector amounted to LE3,903.0 billion in 2020/2021, an increase of 20.0 percent over the previous year, as the family sector accounted for 68.1 percent of the total bank deposits.

And bank deposit balances of the private business sector amounted to LE670.9 billion in 2020/2021, an increase of 18.3 percent over the previous year, while private sector deposits amounted to 11.7 percent of total bank deposits.

Bank deposit balances for the public services sector amounted to LE731.5 billion in 2020/2021, an increase of 43.1 percent over the previous year, and the sector’s deposits amounted to 12.8 percent of total bank deposits.

The treasury and government administration sector totaled 97.5 percent of the public services sector deposits.
