Canada’s tallest tower to light up in the colors of Egypt’s flag

The activities of the Egyptian Civilization and Heritage Month, organized by the Canadian Egyptian Heritage Association in Canada, will be launched at the beginning of July under the patronage of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Friday.

The event will see the CN Tower, the tallest in Canada, light up in the colors of the Egyptian flag at sunset – marking the second time the tower has lit up with the Egyptian flag’s colors in 30 years.

Minister of Immigration Nabila Makram said that the Egyptian Civilization and Heritage Month in Canada which begins on Friday is a result of the Egyptian community in Canada’s influential work.

She added that the community has worked ceaselessly to acquaint the world with Egypt’s long history.

The Prime Minister’s sponsorship of the event reflects the vision and belief of Egypt’s government in the efforts made by the Egyptian communities abroad to raise the flag of the nation in their foreign societies, she said, especially at a time when Egypt needs its citizens more than ever – aboard or at home.

She added that the Egyptian community in Canada over the past years has proven its active involvement in Canadian society in various areas, and managed to convince the Parliament of Ontario to declare July as a month for Egyptian civilization and heritage.

The Canadian Egyptian Heritage Association in Canada said that celebrations for the Egyptian civilization and heritage month include broadcasting events and exclusive meetings for symbols of art, literature and culture in Egypt on Saturday and Sunday of every week throughout July in addition to inviting all Egyptian NGOs in Canada to participate.

It added that about 30 Egyptian institutions in Canada have announced their readiness to participate.
