Calm has been restored at the Suez court complex following clashes Tuesday between striking court employees and military police, said the Suez security chief.
Four employees were injured in the fighting.
Clashes erupted after military police refused to allow employees to close the complex gates as part of their strike, state-run Al-Ahram newspaper reported.
Araby Eid, a court worker, told Al-Ahram that military police assaulted them, despite being notified about the strike a few days earlier.
Major General Adel Refaat, the Suez security director, called on the court employees to keep their strike peaceful, adding that he instructed the local police station to allow those injured to file reports.
The court employees syndicate announced their strike as part of a broader one being staged nationwide by workers at courts and prosecution offices to demand better working conditions and fair treatment by the government.
