Cairo University has maintained its position among the world’s 500 universities, yet occupying a low standing among those at 474, according to universities’ world ranking website, Webometrics.
The biannual Webometrics index evaluates 25.000 world universities and high institutes based on the scope of scientific research available on their websites and their online presence.
Cairo University came second among Arab universities and third in Africa, according to the website. It remains on top in inside Egypt, followed by the American University in Cairo and the universities of Mansoura, Banha and Alexandria respectively.
