Cairo University president and aides resign

Cairo University President Hossam Kamel and all his aides will submit their resignations to Minister of Higher Education Motaz Khorshed on Tuesday, even though their terms have not yet terminated.

The resignations come in response to demands by a majority of faculty members to select university leaderships by election and not by direct appointment.

“Cairo University took this initiative for other universities to follow,” said Cairo University Vice President Hussein Khaled.
