Cairo governor plans cafes on Omar Makram, Tahrir garages

Governor of Cairo Galal Mostafa Saeed said he was currently considering the development of areas  above Tahrir and Omar Makram garages to be exploited optimally, through the establishment of snack bars and cafes.

Local authorities called specialized companies in the field of development and operation of commercial centers before the end of this month to discuss the project, Saeed said Thursday.

The governorate will later put up the right to develop and manage the project to companies to choose the best offers, he added.

The governor stressed the importance of cooperation and concerted civil society efforts with executive agencies and the government for the implementation of development plans. He added Cairo has around 12,000 civil society organizations.

The district heads should cooperate with NGOs and take advantage of their ability to communicate with citizens to upgrade the district, provide service to residents, and to support those in need, as well as to spread awareness of the risks of overpopulation, early marriage, female genital mutilation, and to participate in campaigns for the empowerment of women, literacy and other activities that contribute to improving the behavior of citizens.
