Cairo governor Galal Mostafa denied rumors that prices for public transport vehicles will go up.
He also called on the Public Transport Authority to increase the number of buses on shift and cancel drivers' vacations in order to meet the needs of citizens.
Mostafa also said that shifts should start from 5am to 2am for all lines.
A large portion of Egypt's working class relies on public transportation, and will be hit harder by the hike in ticket prices.
