Cairo Airport authorities started on Wednesday the implementation of a plan to reduce the consumption of energy after midnight as part of a plan to face an electricity shortage expected in the summer.
Airliners meanwhile are adjusting their schedules to avoid the night hours when the airport will be partially closed.
Airport authorities have already started reducing the lighting in arrival and departure halls particularly at those times when no planes are arriving or leaving, sources from the airport said.
The source added that this procedure precedes the partial closure of the airport expected in June.
Airliners such as Air France, Alitalia and others are changing their flight schedules to have their flights arrive earlier to avoid those hours when the airport will be partially closed.
