Security authorities at Cairo International Airport dispersed on Sunday morning a fight between supporters and opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
The clashes broke out following the arrival of a Syrian plane coming from Damascus, which carried nearly 50 Syrians planning to stage a protest outside the Arab League in Cairo to support Assad.
Exiting the arrivals hall, the passengers chanted pro-Assad slogans, impelling opponents of the Syrian president to accuse them of treason.
The airport has strengthened security measures to prevent further clashes and secure the newly arrived Syrians' exit from the airport.
International pressure has been mounting on Assad to end a bloody crackdown on pro-democracy protests roiling the country since March. Nearly 3500 civilians have reportedly been killed by pro-Assad forces, according to United Nations estimates.
