The Confederation of African Football (CAF), headed by Patrice Motsepe, has decided to award its highest award, the prestigious 2024 Outstanding Achievement Award, to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
The decision comes in recognition of President Sisi’s extensive contribution to the development and growth of football in Egypt and the African continent, done through the development of the distinctive football infrastructure and facilities that were built in Egypt.
Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi is scheduled to be present to receive the award on behalf of the President during the annual CAF Awards 2024 ceremony, in Morocco, set to be broadcast live to more than 100 countries around the world.
Meanwhile, the player of the first football team of Zamalek Club, Ahmed Sayed Zizo, along with Al-Ahly Club player Hussein al-Shahat, and the goalkeeper of the South African team Sundowns and the South African national team, Ronen Williams, are competing to win the award for the best player in the African continent for the current year.
The final list of nominees for the African Player of the Year award included Simon Adingra, Serhou Guirassy, Achraf Hakimi, Ademola Lookman, and Ronwen Williams.
The final list for the best men’s team within the continent included Ahly, Zamalek, and Sundowns.
