The Cabinet’s media center has denied news that the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) assigned a number of companies to act as intermediaries, sending bills to the electronic billing system.
The Center, in a statement Monday, said it had contacted the Finance Ministry to verify the reports.
The Finance Ministry dismissed as baseless any such news, stressing that no firms or programs had been licensed to do that job.
E-TAX is the only company authorized as a service provider to the electronic billing system.
The Center urged all media outlets to verify any information from official sources so as not to confuse public opinion.
