Cabinet approves bilateral trade agreement with Kenya

The Cabinet has approved the president's draft resolution on the bilateral trade agreement between Egypt and Kenya, which was signed in Nairobi on January 14.
 
The agreement aims to strengthen bilateral relations and trade cooperation between the two countries in accordance with their laws and regulations, as well as take into consideration the World Trade Organization and COMESA agreements.
 
Within the agreement, the two parties agreed to work to remove all non-tariff barriers and take all the necessary measures to combat and eliminate all forms of unfair business practices and illegal trade between the two countries in accordance with the COMESA agreement.
 
The agreement also states that the two countries should encourage technical cooperation between its citizens through the exchange of visits by businessmen and private sector delegations, as well as cooperation in the productive and infrastructure sectors, other development projects and the exchange of business information.
 
It also encourages the exchange of experts and trainees and facilitates cooperation between the local chambers of commerce, industry associations and customs authorities, as well as relevant institutions that can facilitate trade and encourage investment.
 
Both parties agreed to establish a joint trade committee headed by ministers responsible for international trade in the two countries or their representatives to promote and develop economic and trade relations.
