The ‘Buy Egyptian’ exhibition started on Thursday in Nasr City and will last until 28 Dec.
Organizers said they hope the event will encourage residents to buy local, instead of relying on imported goods.
“These products were made for the Egyptian market, in order to support local industries,” Ahmed al-Deeb, chief of the exhibition authority, said. “Foreign companies that make Egyptian products are allowed to participate as well.”
Several sectors are represented including food supplies, clothes, carpets, textile, engineering needs, chemicals and others.
Deeb also said that companies at the expo will sell products at wholesale prices and will offer special discounts.
