Fierce clashes erupted among residents in Mansoura, Daqahlia on Wednesday as the butane gas cylinder shortage continues in some parts of the country. Individuals rushed to grab cylinders before the supply ran out.
In Minya, the delay in arrival of the gas cylinders resulted in long lines outside warehouses and stores throughout the villages in the province. The shortage has driven black market prices to upwards of LE50 per tank, as a result.
In Assiut, residents called on governor Major General Ibrahim Hammad to increase the quota allocated to the province due to the increasing demand and congestion outside outlets selling the cylinders.
