Brotherhood tries to curb continuous demonstrations

The Muslim Brotherhood is planning to curb continuous demonstrations and sit-ins by incorporating revolutionary youths into the political system, said Brotherhood sources, so as to pave the way to better understanding on important issues such as the new constitution and presidential elections.

They said the group started talks with various political forces, the ruling military council, the Advisory Council and certain presidential hopefuls with a view toward getting them to join the initiative.

The initiative suggests scenarios for choosing the constituent assembly to be tasked with writing the constitution, as well as handing over the military council’s legislative powers to an elected parliament.

It is also attempting to reassure various political forces that those making extremist and controversial statements would be excluded from leading positions in the new parliament.
