Brotherhood supreme guide concludes visit to Turkey

Muslim Brotherhood Supreme Guide Mohamed Badei concluded his visit to Istanbul, during which he took part in the commemoration of the second anniversary of the death of former Islamist Prime Minister Necmettin Erbakan.

Badei left Cairo heading to Istanbul on Friday.

In his speech on the first day of the ceremony, Badei mentioned what he described as Erbakan’s virtues and his services for Islam.

The commemorations took place on Saturday and Sunday under the auspices of “Erbakan week.” Islamist leaders from 30 countries attended, including Rachid Ghannouchi, head of the Ennahda Movement in Tunisia.

The celebration came as a response to calls from the Turkish Saadet Party, an Islamist party founded by Erbakan.

Sources from the Muslim Brotherhood said that Badei held talks with the visiting Islamist leaders.

Meanwhile, sources from the Saadet Party denied news of a meeting between Badei and US Secretary of State John Kerry, who arrived in Ankara the day Badei arrived, before he visited Egypt.
