Security forces have continued to arrest members of the Muslim Brotherhood on charges of inciting violence.
In Minya, five members were arrested on charges of storming police stations and churches following the dispersal of the Brotherhood sit-ins in August. One of them is a fugitive whose case documents were sent to the Grand Mufti in preparation of his execution, another three are involved in breaking into homes of Copts in Samalout and a fifth accused of violent rioting in Minya.
Meanwhile, the Minya attorney general ordered the detention of four members for 15 days pending investigation for their involvement in storming police stations, violence and sabotage last August. Among them are members whose papers were also sent to the mufti, another fugitive from a life sentence, and yet another accused of robbery.
In Sohag, prosecutors remanded 11 Brotherhood members into custody for 15 days for inciting civil disobedience and demonstrating against the police and the army.
They are also charged with joining a terrorist group that aims to disturb public security and of demonstrating without permission in violation of the protest law.
Meanwhile, the Sohag Misdemeanor Court ordered the release of nine members on an LE10,000 bail each.
The court rejected an appeal filed by 16 other members of the group, including a girl, accused of violent rioting the first day of the referendum on the Constitution, which killed four people and wounded five others in an exchange of fire with police.
In Beni Suef, a Brotherhood group calling itself “Three o’clock at night” tore pictures of Field Marshal Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Ahmed Othman of Hamdeen Sabbahi’s electoral campaign in Beni Suef said they tore pictures of Sabbahi as well.
In Damietta, 19 group members were arrested.
