Brotherhood leader Sobhi Saleh’s detention extended

Authorities have extended the detention of Muslim Brotherhood leader Sobhi Saleh, along with 87 other members of the Islamist group.

The 88 figures will be detained for 15 further days pending investigations into charges of inciting violence in Sidi Gaber, Alexandria in the aftermath of the 3 July overthrow of Egypt's Islamist president, Mohamed Morsy.

Other defendants face charges of killing, membership of a terrorist group, threatening public peace and hampering public transport.

Ten youths were meanwhile released on LE1,000 bail pending further investigations.
