Brotherhood announces death of leader in prison

The Muslim Brotherhood’s disbanded Freedom and Justice Party announced the death of leading member and former MP Mohamed al-Falahgy in Gamasa Prison Monday morning.

The party claimed Falahgy died of Hepatic Encephalopathy as a result of deliberate medical neglect on the part of the Interior Ministry. Though he was transferred to Damietta Hospital for tests, he was then returned to prison.

Falahgy, 58, was arrested on August 26, 2013 and sent to Gamasa Prison on October 1, 2013. He was charged with incitement to murder, attacking police stations and burning the Damietta Islamic Complex.
