Authorities at Cairo International Airport said, Tuesday, they admitted Britain's ambassador to Afghanistan Richard Stagg after being detained for a few minutes for not obtaining an entry visa.
Official sources at Cairo airport told reporters that Stagg came on board a plane from London without having an entry visa.
The sources added that the British diplomat has been detained for few minutes to inform the Foreign Ministry with the incident.
Based on the principle of reciprocity, an entry visa is required for holders of diplomatic passports and special visas from Egyptian embassies and consulates abroad prior to entering Egypt.
