Universal's slate of monster films continues to grow as David Koepp of "Mission Impossible," "Jurassic Park" and "Angels & Demons" signs on to write up "Bride of Frankenstein."
With Koepp on board, Universal Studios is now moving in on a director and lead actress, and both roles could be filled by Angelina Jolie.
Though Koepp recently directed Johnny Depp comedy "Mortdecai" and Ricky Gervais drama "Ghost Town," Jolie is thought to be Universal's preferred choice, and she'll wait upon Koepp's treatment before deciding one way or the other, Variety reports.
The "Maleficent" actress has racked up directors' credits in three feature films since 2011, including last year's epic AFI Movie of the Year "Unbroken," and the late 2015 drama "By the Sea," in which she co-starred alongside husband Brad Pitt.
A reboot of "The Mummy" has already been announced for March 2017, with "Van Helsing" and "The Wolf Man" expected to follow.
