The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs will publish a book in April dealing with the protection of churches in Islam, according to Endowments Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa.
In announcing the book, called "Protection of Churches in Islam", Gomaa said the volume expresses the tolerance of Islam, which recognizes co-existence, establishes the values of citizenship and respects the beliefs of others.
He made the announcement on Tuesday during the first meeting of a committee supervising another book, an encyclopedia on correcting false concepts in Islam.
Gomaa said that the committee approved the first reading of the book on churches and decided to publish it next month after finishing its final revision.
He added that the encyclopedia will be issued later in several parts. It forms part of the ministry’s plan to renew religious discourse and spread genuine Islam in order to fight extremism.
