A bomb squad in 10th of Ramadan City defused an IED that was planted near a police checkpoint on Belbais-Asher highway.
A security cordon was imposed around the area and cars were not allowed to pass until authorities cleared the scene.
Police have intensified efforts to find perpetrators.
