Marwan Hamed’s “The Blue Elephant” has been named the best feture film at the 4th annual Luxor African Film Festival, which concluded on Saturday. The director was awarded the Grand Nile Prize (US$3000 and a golder Tutenkhamun mask).
The festival’s Grand Nile Prize for the best documentary ($3000 and a golden Tutankhamun mask) went to the Sudanese film director Hajoj Koka’s and his “Beats of the Antonov”.
The jury’s special prize for documentaries (a silver mask and $2000) went to Benin’s Astrid Ariane Atodji, for her film, “Suffering”, whereas a Namibian director, Richard Pakleppa, has won a certificate of appreciation and a bronze Tutankhamun mask for his “Paths to Freedom”.
