Blogger Hadir Abdel Razek’s legal troubles escalate amidst new charges

Egyptian prosecutors have ordered the trial of blogger Hadir Abdel Razek for allegedly insulting a renowned director. The case will be heard in the Economic Court.

This comes amid a social media storm surrounding Abdel Razek following the leak of a private video.

Egyptian media outlets reported that authorities are investigating a leaked video involving Abdel Razek, according to the RT Arabia website.

The authorities aim to identify the individuals in the video and determine when and where it was filmed. Abdel Razek has filed a police report claiming the video was stolen from her personal phone and demanding the arrest of the perpetrator. She insists the person in the video is her husband, presenting marriage and divorce certificates as evidence.

Despite being released on bail after facing charges of inciting immorality through the distribution of explicit content on social media, Abdel Razek awaits her trial date.

Abdel Razek was apprehended by security forces on accusations of disseminating sexually suggestive content on social media platforms. Her arrest followed a surge in popularity gained through posting provocative videos aimed at boosting viewership.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office had previously ordered Abdel Razek’s release on bail of LE 50,000 after a 30-day detention period. Following her release, a sexually explicit video of her surfaced online.
