A black banner that an advertising agency placed in Alexandria has triggered controversy on social networking sites.
The banner, which reads “Do You Wish To Die?” is part of an awareness campaign against smoking.
Youssef Reda of the agency said the campaign was meant to start with a week of intriguing teasers, but other banners were quickly raised to explain it when people thought it had a terrorist connotation. "We quickly placed a banner reading Every Cigarette Reduces 10 minutes of Your Life," he said.
