Bird flu is looming again over Minya after the governorate declared a state of emergency as the seventh infection was recorded since November.
Dr. Omniya Ragab, undersecretary of the Health Ministry in Minya, said two cases have recovered, four died and one is still being treated.
Veterinary Medicine Director Emad Abdel Razek met with a veterinary team in Cairo to discuss precautionary and early detection methods, raise awareness among the people and cull chickens whose sources are unknown.
In Menoufiya, a six-year-old boy was suspected of carrying the disease and was isolated in hospital.
Dr. Hisham al-Shenawy, undersecretary of the Health Ministry in Ismailia, said no cases were reported but the governorate is still taking precautionary measures and the governor declared a state of emergency.
