Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s Writing and Scripts Center will hold on 16 December a lecture entitled “Geographic discoveries and its effects on languages of the new world” within the cultural season organized by the center.
The lecture will be given by Geography Professor Fathy Abu Ayana, of Alexandria University’s Faculty of Arts.
“The recent geographic discoveries are considered a main turning point in the history and geography of the world,” Abu Ayana said adding that they contributed to acknowledge of the planet Earth with its lands, peoples and resources.The discoveries had a great impact on the new world, he said.
Essam al-Saeed, head of the center, said the lecture comes after Abu Ayana, along with Professor Okasha abdel Aal, vice president of the university, were awarded the Taha Hussein prize, which is the most important prize awarded by the university in field of humanities.
