Social media has been abuzz with news that Egyptian actor Bayoumi Fouad has obtained the citizenship of another country.
Fouad clarified in statements to the state-run Al-Ahram newspaper that all circulating videos on the topic are around 17 months old, and announced that he obtained the citizenship of a Caribbean Islands country specifically, contrary to some claims.
He explained that what he did was normal, as the singer Hani Shaker had preceded him.
Bayoumi assured that he still loves Egypt, and that no complications have arisen from his new Caribbean island citizenship.
