Baseera: 90% Egyptians send Christians holiday wishes

A survey conducted by the Egyptian Center for Public Opinion Research (Baseera) showed that a sweeping majority of Egyptians approve of sending Christians holidays wishes for their religious celebrations.
 
According to the survey, 90 percent of Egyptians congratulate their Christian neighbors on their holidays while only 10 percent abstain.
 
Eighty-six percent of Lower Egyptian residents congratulate Christians on their holidays, 92 percent in Upper Egypt and 95 percent in urban governorates.
 
The ratio rises from 87 percent among those with less education to 97 percent among those with higher education.
 
The middle class are most keen to send good wishes to Christians on holidays as their ratio amounted to 94 percent, compared to 87 percent among the poor and 91 percent among the rich.
 
Eighty-two percent of respondents argued that congratulating Christians on their holidays does not contradict with Islam, 5 percent said it was prohibited, while 13 percent said they did not know.
 
The ratio of young people who believe congratulating Christians on their feasts does not contradict Islamic teachings is 77 percent. The ratio raised to 86 percent among Egyptians over 50 years old.
 
One third of those who think congratulating Christians is prohibited do the act, while 79 percent of those who said did not know do the act.
